How much water should we drink each day? According to www.mayoclinic.com, it’s an easy question with no easy answers. “Studies have produced varying recommendations over the years, but in truth, you water needs depend on many factors, including your health, how active you are and where you live.”
Aside from thirst, a good rule of thumb is to pay attention to the color of your urine throughout the day. It should be clear or light in color. If it's dark yellow or amber, you're probably not drinking enough.
We all know that intense physical activity causing us to sweat will increase our need for water. But sometimes, it’s the not so obvious things – like air conditioning, high winds, dry or humid heat, even cold weather that requires extra clothing outside and constant heat inside – can increase your need for water.
With the Science of Hydration advancing over the last ten years, many excellent Sports drinks are available to help keep you hydrated. We welcome your suggestions and feedback if you’ve found a good product.
One of our favorites is Nuun. It was designed by athletes who wanted a portable, easy-to-use hydration product minus the sugar, carbs and syrupy chemicals that tend to slow absorption rate into your body. With extensive input from doctors and research scientists, Nuun contains 4 vital electrolytes, sodium, calcium, potassium and magnesim, all formulated into a quick release tablet that turns any bottle of water into a hypotonic solution that quickly infuses your cells with water.
Since all you need is a bottle of water (reusable is great), you don't need to buy and throw away mountains of water or sports drink bottles. Nuun has no sugar or chemicals to leave a residue, so just rinse your bottle and reload.
If you’re tired of water, you can drop a Nuun tablet in any drink or smoothie.
